Why London is a great place to own a nicely renovated home

September 4, 2015 By tylermandic Leave a Comment

London is a great city to live in. If you already have a house in London then you’ll have noticed that your home could turn out to be a significant investment. House prices in the capital are acting against the general downward trend and are continuing to rise which is good news for London’s property owners.

Of course, you may not be planning to move anywhere in the near future, but it is nice to know that you are sitting on an investment when the time eventually comes. However, that does not mean that your property doesn’t need attention in order to remain a decent investment.

You need to look after the place and address any home improvements when they are needed. In some cases, more large scale renovations and modernisation projects are necessary, especially in properties that are beginning to show their age – something not all that uncommon in an old city like London.

More good news comes with the knowledge that for builders and architects London is a brilliant place to be. It means you can have your renovations, extensions, modernisations and so on carried out with serious skill and expertise.

Conditions that make for a great relationship with your designers and builders

September 3, 2015 By tylermandic Leave a Comment

It’s wonderful when you have a very productive and positive relationship with the people who are in charge of your rebuild and renovate project. The great thing about this sort of arrangement when it goes right is that you never find yourself out of the loop. Communication is good which means you can get your points across to the team of designers and builders easily and they can keep you completely updated.

Unfortunately, this sort of thing does not happen very often. That is why it is so hard to choose from all the different design and build companies London is home to. One thing you can do to put yourself in with a better chance of working with people whose project management and communication skills are of the highest order is to go for a firm that deal with everything under one roof.

A team that consists of designers, builders, project managers and architects who are all working for the same company has a better chance of delivering on that positive relationship. There are unlikely to be any breakdowns in communication because everyone is signing from the same hymn sheet. This is the equivalent of design and build bliss.

Having studio space installed in your own home

September 2, 2015 By tylermandic Leave a Comment

For many people, the opportunity to have a studio in the home is a real advantage. A nice studio can be used for all sorts of things, including artistic pursuits. If you make a living from art or you simply want to improve your skills and focus more of your attention on what you love to do, then a studio would probably be a useful addition to your home.

Although some artists like to work away from the house, it is often a good deal more convenient to have a studio at home because it allows you to make the most of your most productive moments and gives you constant access to your materials and so on.

If you have some spare space at home, then creating a studio is simply a matter of arranging for a renovation of that space. Remember that the studio is part of your home and has to look nice, so the input of trusted renovation specialists is important. Simple, modern design is usually best in the studio because it helps you to focus on the job in hand. It also makes sense to encourage natural light in the room.

Creating a living room that acts a social hub for the household

September 1, 2015 By tylermandic Leave a Comment

The living room is a really important part of the house. We spend a great deal of time in our living rooms because they act as a kind of social hub for the household. The living room is obviously used when people are gathered watching things on television, but it is also used to entertain when guests come round and it generally makes up the most sociable and inclusive part of the home.

That is why a lot of people choose to make their living as spacious and as sociable as possible through interior design. People can find privacy in other parts of the house, like the bedroom and home offices, so it makes sense to preserve the living room as a more open area.

In some cases, creating a more sociable and spacious living room necessitates house renovation. Although a few home improvements will go some way to making the living room feel a bit more welcoming, it is sometimes necessary to actually deal with the layout and structure of the room to get a little bit closer to your ideal.

Big plans for the extra space in your new home

September 1, 2015 By tylermandic Leave a Comment

If you are in the position whereby you can reasonably expect to relocate to a bigger property in the city, then it is wise to consider some of the ways you might be able to make of the extra space at your disposal. You will have become accustomed by a certain way of living, so the prospect of moving to a bigger home actually throws open all sorts of opportunities.

If you are upgrading significantly then you might even be in a position to introduce special rooms to your home, like a private gym, a games room, or a large open office. These are rooms that can have quite an effect on the way you live and so they are definitely worth considering should you find yourself with the room for them in the properties you are considering.

House renovation is likely to be necessary if the places you are looking at don’t already boast these great features. For house renovation, London is very much at the cutting edge, so your new city property is likely to be in very capable hands when you make arrangements to give it that extra edge.

Take the opportunity to remodel your interiors in a contemporary fashion

August 28, 2015 By tylermandic Leave a Comment

Restoring a property is not just about getting it back to its former glory. Although a lot of London homeowners love seeing their homes returned to the state they enjoyed when they were first designed and built, others recognise the fact that home renovation represents a significant opportunity to get really creative with the way their homes are laid out and finished.

Restoration is sometimes about bringing a house into the modern age. You do not have to sacrifice the period features of your home to make it more suitable for contemporary living and for contemporary aesthetics. Creative designers can help you to achieve the perfect balance between history and modernity so that your property really stands out from the crowd.

Maintaining the period exterior of your home is one aspect of home renovation. However, it is possible to completely remodel the interiors so that they possess the bright, spacious and visually stunning attributes of more contemporary spaces. This allows you to achieve the best of both worlds and London’s creative design and build experts have the skills necessary to make it happen.

August 26, 2015 By tylermandic Leave a Comment

One of the nicest things about having your home renovated by professional designers and builders is that come the end of the project you will be able to enjoy the simple pleasure of a completely new look. Most people have to move house in order to enjoy this feeling, but if renovation is a possibility then you can enjoy a fresh look without having to move away.

Professional renovations are extremely advantageous because they deal with the aesthetic issues that you need to fulfil and they also correct any damage, improve your home maintenance and make the place much more energy-efficient. These benefits make the fact that your house looks new and fresh all the more satisfying.

If you and your design team have been a little more ambitious with you renovation project then you might have the benefit of extra space at your disposal or a more convenient layout of your upstairs and downstairs rooms. A basement renovation could significantly improve your home

August 24, 2015 By tylermandic Leave a Comment

Sometimes making the most of your home is about getting more out of those rooms that are sometimes overlooked. While we tend to focus all our attention on areas like the kitchen, living room and bedrooms, there are parts of the house that we could revamp to0 take the home to the next level in terms of comfort and design.

Take the basement as an example. A lot of people use the basement as a place to simply store items they can’t find a home for elsewhere in the house, but a lot of basements have much greater potential than that. A successful renovation of the basement can actually reveal a part of the house that is not just eminently useful, but which is also extremely comfortable.

The basement could be turned into a kind of den or an extra sitting room that you could use as an alternative place to relax when the living room is in use. Otherwise, the casement could be used as quite a successful home office. Even if you renovate the basement just to create a cleaner and brighter storage area, you will have made a big difference to the atmosphere at home.

Ways you can approach a gradual overhaul of your interiors

August 23, 2015 By tylermandic Leave a Comment

Renovating your house is a great idea if you have big plans for how you want your house to look. Of course, you do have to weigh up your options regarding a place to start. Eventually, you may want to have given the whole house a thorough revamp.

It’s possible to start in the kitchen and bathroom if you want to get the essential rooms out of the way. These are the most practical spaces and it is good to have them up to scratch before everything else. However, others prefer to leave these rooms as they are until the living areas are complete.

The latter approach would mean starting with the living room or bedrooms. As it is a communal and sociable space, the living room often takes precedence for a lot of people because the bedrooms and more private and can be kept under wraps while the rest of the house is looked at.

Working from the ground floor upwards makes a lot of sense, but if you are particularly ambitious, you could have the entire house done at once. This is obviously easier to accomplish if the house is new and you are preparing to move in.

The living room is a good place to start your home renovation

August 22, 2015 By tylermandic Leave a Comment

One of the first rooms you are likely to look at renovating when you invest in a house in London that you are aware needs a bit of fixing up is the living room. If some of the other rooms could do with some work, but are acceptable enough at first, then you want at least to have one room that is really cosy and comfortable and completely to your taste.

It makes a lot of sense to invest in a house that needs work doing on it because you’re likely to get it for a knockdown price. If you’re prepared to wait a little while for your home to take on a really lovely interior design and some of your own character, then renovating slowly is the ideal situation.

If you start by renovating the lounge then at least you’ll have a place where you and your family can relax and enjoy being in your new surroundings with your own personal stamp on the décor. Since the lounge is used by all the family, it represents the perfect starting point for your home improvements, allowing slowly but surely you renovate the rest.
