A lovely, light house with generous and well proportioned rooms, our client initially felt it needed very little updating. The kitchen was clearly small for a family, however, and the ground floor and garden not terribly user-friendly. We divided an existing, long kitchen/diner into two spaces, and reimagined the long strip of garden by colour-matching stone at one end to the dining area and positioning mirrors behind the planting. We also opened up the study on to the upper terrace.
As we worked, it became clear there were gains to be made in almost every room, and the project evolved into an almost total overhaul. We carried out a full rewire and replumb, redid the bathrooms, created a new study and improved the front garden to give privacy but with space for the children to play. The outcome is beautiful and timeless, hallmarked with an abundance of quality finishes.
