Motives vary when it comes to renovation in London (Part 1)

June 2, 2017 By tylermandic Leave a Comment

Not everyone has the same motivation when it comes to having a house renovated. There is much more to it than investing in superficial alterations that have an aesthetic effect and little more. Whilst it is true that people take advantage of the chance to enjoy a new approach to design when they renovate, this is rarely the sole reason for undertaking the task in the first instance.

One very influential part of renovation is making more of the space at your disposal. Lots of homeowners in London find that the compactness of their living spaces does not do justice to their style and their great location. They renovate in order to knock through walls, open up stairways and construct extensions.

Enhancing the way space is used at home has an aesthetic effect, but it also improves the environment at home and makes for a more comfortable and in some cases a healthier way of life. More space certainly means greater convenience and this definitely adds to the motivations behind renovations related to space.

Nevertheless, as the next post details, space is not the only thing people look for in a renovation project.

Changing the interiors at home to make it fit for kids (Part 1)

May 27, 2017 By tylermandic Leave a Comment

When you have a family there are bound to be certain things about your home that you would prefer to change. However, the location might not be one of them. You could have selected your current location purely because you recognise its worth as a great place to raise your children, close to your family and close to good schools and plenty of amenities.

However, when it comes to the actual structure of your home, its shape and its functionality there could be plenty that you would like to alter in some way. This is natural because having children obviously changes your perspective on things. It is best to address these things as soon as you can so that your house is ready to cope with the needs of your family.

This may mean renovation. Renovation is not uncommon when family life takes over because people have a much clearer idea of how functional each space in the house needs to be. They get professionals involved to turn a good home into a great family home in as many ways as they possibly can.

Converting cellars and attics with the help of adept professionals

May 16, 2017 By tylermandic Leave a Comment

One of the things that you can do with your house to make it much more practical and also much more attractive is to have the loft space or the cellar converted into a useable room. A loft conversion always makes a lovely bedroom with a nice aspect and cellars make fantastically functional spaces as well as comfortable and private additional living areas.

The best thing to do in this situation is to take the chance to have the work carried out properly by experienced professionals who are not just there to get the work done, they are also there to create something really special to add to their portfolios and to make your home a really stunning place to live.

When you have a dedicated team of architects, builders and designers working on your project you are much more likely to enjoy the full impact of their expertise. Take a blanket approach to repair work and modernisation

May 8, 2017 By tylermandic Leave a Comment

Home repairs are not something that you should leave for long. The fact is that maintenance gets more and more of a necessity as time goes by and if you don’t effect repairs in due course, the state of your home is only likely to get worse and the work that needs doing is only likely to get more expensive and more urgent.

It is wise to actually take a blanket approach if you find that you have the resources at your disposal. Instead of doing little bits and pieces here and there, you could have the renovators in. In the first instance, you may have the renovators in to do repair work and to modernise your home from a practical perspective.

However, this is a good time to also put into effect any aesthetic changes you might want carrying out. Renovators are adept at repair work and interior design alike so they can turn your home into a beautiful place to live as well as a safe and high quality residence. You may want to do the entire downstairs area first and then address the upstairs at another time.

Renovate your house to facilitate working for yourself

May 1, 2017 By tylermandic Leave a Comment

One of the most positive changes that professional people make in their lives is to work for themselves instead of working for anyone else. This often gives you a sense of control over your own affairs and it enables you to put greater belief in the work you do. Obviously it is not an option that is open to everyone, but those you can work for themselves often enjoy it.

One thing that you may need to think about if you have decided to work for yourself is your working premises. Your home may actually be able to accommodate your business very well provided you make a few changes. Whether you work completely freelance and only have need of an office or you have a practice of some kind that requires a space where you can meet clients at home, renovation could provide the answer.

Home renovation of this kind ought to be seen as a real investment because it changes your property for the better, often making it larger and more practical. It also saves money on finding premises to use as a workplace and allows you to structure your working life around home.

Why it is better to use professionals than renovate on your own (Part 2)

April 28, 2017 By tylermandic Leave a Comment

The previous article started the process of examining why it is usually best to speak to professionals about getting your renovation project off the ground. Although you can try and go it alone, a range of different factors make paying to get professionals on board a wiser option in most cases. We have already discussed the matter of the quality of the work, but two other factors stand out alongside this one.

The first of these factors is time. You want to try and have your renovation done as quickly as you can so that your house is liveable sooner. A team of professionals can work on the project full time. Their experience will allow them to work quickly and accurately so that they meet the timescale set by the project manager.

The second factor is cost. The fact is that professionals know precisely where to source materials and how to get them at the most cost-effective rates. Without this expert knowledge there is every chance that you will pay just as much to get the renovation done on your own as you would to have the input of professional designers and builders.

Why it is better to use professionals than renovate on your own (Part 1)

April 27, 2017 By tylermandic Leave a Comment

It is tempting to try and save a little bit of money when you know that one or two of the rooms in your house need some serious work doing to them. However, it is worth spending some time thinking about whether it is better to use a professional renovation company in order to get the job done.

There are a few very serious advantages to having a team of professionals in the field of design and construction on board. These will be discussed over the course of the next couple of blog posts. It is probably sensible to start off by discussing the difference in quality you may be able to expect from professionals.

Professional tradesmen working for a reputable design and build company are likely to have plenty of practical experience in carrying out renovations like yours. They will have built up an excellent array of skills related to each aspect of the renovation process. Is something that you can really compete with? Try and answer the question honestly. You don’t want to have to call in the professionals at a later date if you come across problems you don’t have the expertise to overcome.

A full renovation is often preferable to fragmented projects

April 18, 2017 By tylermandic Leave a Comment

When you house is starting to show its age you may find that you have to address problem after problem. In many cases, having people in to take care of all these things represents a significant cost and it does not always leave you with fantastic results. Too much work conducted by too many separate outfits can leave your home with a somewhat fragmented maintenance history.

In order to keep everything together, it might be worth trying to get all your repairs in each part of the house carried out at once. For instance, if it becomes apparent that your insulation downstairs needs sorting out, but you also want to re-plaster the kitchen and sort out the floor in the dining room, you could just have the entire ground floor renovated.

This represents a big investment, but it sorts all your problems out at once and gives you the opportunity to re-design the space at the same time. This often proves to be a positive way of doing things and it leaves you with results that could never be described as underwhelming or fragmented.

Extending the kitchen as part of a renovation

April 11, 2017 By tylermandic Leave a Comment

One of the things that really helps to add value to your home is the inclusion of a really nice big kitchen. A large kitchen is something that a lot of people really prioritise because they recognise the central role that the kitchen place in domestic life. The kitchen is meant to be extremely functional but it is also a sociable space and extra room is very important to ensure it fulfils your expectations.

It is worth extending your kitchen if you have outdoor space that you would like to make more useful. Space is always at a premium in the capital and if you can make your home more comfortable and roomier in the right places then you will have a better time of it at home. The difference will be noticeable immediately.

On top of this advantage, you may also notice that the value of your home increases. In this sense, the work you have done is more of an investment. You will make good use of the change, but you will also see financial reward when you come to sell up if you move to pastures new.

Changing the interiors at home to make it fit for kids (Part 2)

April 5, 2017 By tylermandic Leave a Comment

The previous post addressed the fact that many people decide to renovate their homes when they have kids because they are aware of the vast difference between life before and after having a family. Renovation is a good way of making your home more spacious and more functional – two considerations that may well take centre stage when it comes to providing for your family.

However, there is another reason to renovate when you have children on the way. Your home may not benefit from an interior environment that you consider perfectly healthy and if you think about how much time your kids will spend in the house, it becomes apparent how important it is that the interior environment is safe, dry, comfortable and private.

Many renovations are put into effect as a means of promoting a healthy environment for children so that parents can rest easy when it comes to the wellbeing of their children at home. This is something that is well within their control and all it takes is a bit of investment in interior design, maintenance and repair work.
