This is a project of relatively modest scale, but the challenges related to achieving the feel of a larger home within a more confined space are interesting, and the client’s personal engagement with creating a new residence with such a specific character made it most satisfying to undertake. A comfortable and appealing refurbishment, precisely satisfying a very personal brief.
Our client purchased this charming, if somewhat compact, two-bedroom, ground floor apartment in order to downscale his London base from a splendid and spacious riverside penthouse filled with antique furniture. Moving many of his prized pieces to his country home outside of London, he was keen to retain some of his antiques in the new apartment, and to refurbish so as to create the feeling of a larger place. Our brief was to integrate the antiques and art with a contemporary styling to achieve a classic look in a contemporary building.
