This tall and narrow residential unit, in a highly desirable location, comprises the upper parts of retail premises, and was brought to us by a commercial client whose brief was to create a rental property ‘of real character’. As our remit included interior design in addition to the architectural redesign and construction, we really did have free reign for our imaginations.
We started by inserting a generous roof light into the top floor to bring down as much light as possible. We then placed a small but practical laundry on one landing, and a smart study on the other landing, creating a truly enchanting and unique property with two bedrooms on the top floor, each with their own bathroom, and a very generous master suite on the middle floor. To the delight of our client, the property let for fifty percent more than agents had initially estimated its rental value.
